TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT

HOME > OUR WORK > TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT

The effects of the pandemic on the lives of millions of poor and economically disadvantaged sections of our society have been devastating. Even this is an understatement. We have no proper words to express the hardship they are in.

Livelihoods have been destroyed; families have been barely surviving on the edge. We are yet to know what proportion of our population has slipped into poverty.  We have witnessed the plights of the endangered tribal communities like Birhor. But now, millions belonging to different communities are facing worsening prospects of poverty.

Rehabilitation and Mainstreaming of the Children of the Birhor Community

We have been involved in the rehabilitation and mainstreaming of the children of the Birhor community, one of the most endangered communities in India. The work involves full funding of the children’s education, clothing, food, primary healthcare, etc. This also involves helping them to avail of various benefits of the social welfare schemes of the Government.

We have been active in:

  1. Adopting children of the Birhor community – this involves funding their education, clothes, nutritious diet, primary healthcare, and all other essential needs as well as help them access various developmental and welfare schemes of the Government.
  2. Maintaining a hostel for Birhor community youth in Giridih with free accommodation, food, clothing, education, and life coaching.
  3. Sponsoring higher studies of meritorious students from various tribal communities.
  4. Sponsoring various welfare schemes for tribal communities.
